This sophisticated apartment in the heart of downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea is just steps away from Ocean Avenue and all of the galleries, restaurants and shops that make the town such a distinctive vacation destination. Park your car and walk to everything in this unbeatable location.

The 800-square-foot newly remodeled residence is on the upper floor of a courtyard that includes numerous businesses, including the popular Toro Sushi Bar, and is also just steps away from the Hog’s Breath Inn, formerly owned by Clint Eastwood, as well as a variety of other well-known restaurants within a few blocks. Once upon a time ago, the flat operated as the club house for famed football coach and Monday Night Football announcer John Madden, for whom the nightly rental is now named, and his close friends.

The apartment is easy walking-distance from the beach, and only 10 minutes to a variety of attractions, including world-class golf and dining in Pebble Beach, monarch butterfly sightings in Pacific Grove, or the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row. Others within a half hour’s drive are the natural wonders of Big Sur and wine tasting in Carmel Valley Village.

Vaulted ceilings with skylights and handcrafted plaster walls are among the features that make this 2-bedroom, 1-bath apartment stand out, as well as a vintage Carmel stone fireplace that provides a cozy gathering point.

Guests enter through a door that leads into the living room, where large windows let in generous amounts of natural light, but with curtains if privacy is desired. The living room includes a large HDTV and comfortable seating around the fireplace.

A convenient kitchenette with refrigerator, small bar sink, oven and stove (no dishwasher) makes it easy to enjoy local take-out food or to prepare small meals and snacks, is adjacent to a dining area that seats four to six.

  • Bedroom #1 features a king-size bed with luxury bedding. It is located directly across the hall from the bathroom.
  • On the other side of the living room, Bedroom #2 has a split king bed with foam topper or can be made into two twin beds.

**Please note that the loft style of the whole apartment means that the walls of the bedrooms do not go all the way to the high ceiling and they are open at the top to the main living area. Visual privacy is assured but sounds can carry from one room to another.

The living room sofa folds out into a queen bed for an additional sleeping option.

The bathroom features a tiled tub-shower combination with a large sunflower shower head and a second removable handheld shower head. The updated bathroom includes a large vanity with dual sinks, a generously sized cabinet with ample room for stowing personal items, and an additional cabinet for storage.

The unit does not have a washer or dryer. We are happy to recommend laundry facilities in the area.

Cars may be parked on nearby streets, there is no private parking provided. The City of Carmel has several downtown parking lots with unlimited timing, including one near the flat on Torres and 3rd.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome with pre-approval, an additional pet fee and a signed pet addendum.

The unit is up a flight of stairs but is all one level once inside.
