Santa Margarita River Trail Preserve, just 3 miles from the site, is one of the last free-flowing wild rivers in Southern California and was voted the #1 trail in San Diego County. This scenic, state-managed trail is home to broad water impoundments created by California golden beavers and marks the southernmost range of steelhead trout.
