American Beach is a historic coastal community on Amelia Island in Nassau County, Florida, located along the island’s Atlantic coast just south of Fernandina Beach. It was established in the 1930s as a Black beach resort by Abraham Lincoln Lewis and remains a meaningful part of African American history. Today it offers a relaxed beach experience with easy access to wide sands and the nearby shops and dining of Fernandina Beach.
